The Origin of the “Lucky Horseshoe” Born
from the marriage of fire & iron, two of the basic elements
in ancient times, the “Lucky Horseshoe” dates back to pre-Christian times. Blacksmiths, makers
and users of iron were considered alchemical masters of the elements & thought to possess magical powers; accordingly
their creations were believed to be endowed with mystical abilities. These beliefs contribute to the Legend of a 10th Century
Archbishop of Canterbury (A blacksmith by trade) who foiled Satan
when he was disguised as a horse because of the positive power of the horseshoe. Legend has it that the two made a pact that
Satan would not enter a home that displayed a horseshoe.Ancient Mediterranean
cultures believed that the crescent shape of the horseshoe was linked
with the Moon-Goddess and that the symbol had luck-givingproperties. It is linked with fertility and power. Traditionally European brides carry a horseshoe down the isle alongside their bouquet, or are presented
with one after the ceremony. This custom is believed to protect the marital home and promote happiness, prosperity & fertility. This
unique horseshoe was carefully crafted for you by the Delaney family. www.DelaneysofDublin.com
